I have owned several 80's era Magna's and found two problems, both on tariff-buster(700cc) models.
Number one: Every single time that I drove into a rainstorm the coils got wet, stalled the bike, and I got soaked. Granted it doesn't rain much here in the desert, but it convinced me to sell!
Number two: The top end was notorious for not getting sufficient oil. I would be cautious when buying used.
